Community
Pat and Gail Conley, owners of Providence Piers, recognize the importance of integrating their development vision with the community that surrounds them. Pat, who was raised in this South Providence neighborhood, just blocks from his development site, sees Providence Piers as an opportunity for neighborhood residents to enjoy public access to the waterfront and to gain employment as the building program moves forward.
- Volunteers from Clean the Bay and R&P Construction removed a barge sunk in the 1938 Hurricane from the shore adjacent to the Providence Piers site.
- Providence Piers hosted the Providence Maritime Heritage Festival.
- The Conleys donate space for use by the Continental Sloop Providence, Rhode Island’s flagship. The Providence is used by school children statewide as part of the Classroom Under Sail curriculum.
- Local fisherman enjoy catching stripers and other fish from the new 776-foot long pier.
